St Pauls Lutheran 2015 089

Our History:

In 1918, a small group of Lutherans decided to form their own congregation in the village of Junction City.  As the building was being finished, bells pealed to proclaim the end of World War I.  In 1921, St Paul’s, along with her sister congregation, St John’s in Dancy, became member congregations in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

In 1960, a new church building was built on the current Main Street site.  That building was expanded six years later, and the parsonage was built in 1975.

Twelve pastors have served St Paul’s, preaching the Word of God and administering His Sacraments.  Throughout that time, blessed by God, St Paul’s has been and continues to be a confessional, liturgical Lutheran congregation, active in our little community and, through our District and Synod, throughout the world!

Our Beliefs:

With the one, holy, Christian and Apostolic Church, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God:

God the Father, who created out of nothing all that exists;

God the Son, Jesus Christ, true God and true man, our Lord and Savior, who suffered and died for the sins of all human beings and rose to life again in ultimate victory over sin, death, and the power of the Devil;

God the Holy Spirit, who calls us through God’s Word and Sacraments to faith in Jesus Christ, gathers us into His Church, and keeps us in the one true faith.

These three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

Our congregation accepts and teaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the Reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century and are presented in the Book of Concord. These teachings of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases:  Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

These teachings are also presented in basic form in Luther’s Small Catechism. http://catechism.cph.org/#
